About PLABSTA

The history, mission, and people behind the Plant Breeding and Seed Technology Association at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB).

Plant Breeding and Seed Technology Lab Research

Our Story

PLABSTA was established to provide every student in the Department of Plant Breeding and Seed Technology at FUNAAB with an empowering home — academically, socially, and professionally. Under the College of Plant Science (COLPLANT), we connect classroom genetics, seed physiology labs, and experimental field trial plots into one continuous learning journey.

Over the years, our departmental community has nurtured student scholars through structured academic clinics, seed viability workshops, agricultural symposiums, and inter-departmental sports, building a legacy that endures through graduation and into agricultural leadership.

Crop Genetics & Breeding

Developing high-yielding, climate-resilient crop varieties and unlocking botanical genetics to secure sustainable agriculture.

Seed Science & Technology

Mastering seed vigour testing, dormancy breaking, physiological quality, and certified high-grade seed production systems.

Mentorship & Community

Nurturing students through peer-led clinics, academic tutorials, farm practical workshops, and lasting professional alumni bonds.
